Benefits of LNG?

Lower fuel costs

  • LNG can achieve significant fuel savings when compared to diesel, particularly in the following applications:
  • High mileage heavy duty vehicles operating semi trailer, B Double or road train configuration; or
  • Refuse collection, concrete delivery, urban bus fleets (or similar).
  • Further, unlike traditional transport fuels like diesel LNG price movements are less volatile and move in line with natural gas contracts, which tend to move quarterly in arrears.

Improved air quality

  • Natural gas is regarded as the cleanest burning fossil fuel. When used in modern truck engines, LNG can produce significantly less PM and Nitrogen Oxides than equivalent diesel engines.

Reduced Greenhouse Gas production

  • Australian Government sponsored testing highlighted that an ADR80/02 15-Litre LNG engine produced 25% less greenhouse gas emissions (CO2-e) than the equivalent diesel engine. Therefore, use of LNG can make a contribution towards a reduced carbon footprint and may help fleets when the proposed Carbon Emissions Trading Scheme is introduced.

Less noise

  • natural gas vehicles are noticeably quieter to operate when compared to equivalent diesel powered vehicles.

Safe to use

  • LNG is non toxic and non corrosive
  • Compared to the high pressure storage of CNG, LNG is safely stored and transported at low pressure (close to atmospheric pressure)
  • The vehicle and refuelling equipment has been designed to meet stringent Australian and International Standards so the operator is never exposed to the fuel during transfer to the vehicle, making the refuelling process inherently safe
  • EVOL LNG provides drivers and workshop employees with introductory LNG training and regular refresher training at each customer site
  • Whilst LNG is very cold and produced at -161°, stringent equipment & safety standards along with appropriate protective equipment and clothing (gloves, long shirt / trousers and face shield)

Secure supply

  • Australia has an abundant supply of natural gas, with recent estimates indicating more than 100 years at projected demand rates.

Fast refuelling

  • Vehicle refuelling time is equivalent to that of high flow diesel. Typical refuelling time for adding 1000 litres of LNG to a vehicle’s tanks is less than 10 minutes.

Proven

  • In Australia alone there is in excess of 200 trucks operating on LNG, along with a number of remote power stations taking advantage of this alternative fuel. Worldwide, the number of natural gas vehicles has doubled in the past five years, and its use in power generation continues to grow at a rapid rate.
