EVOL LNG to help fuel Aurenne’s Mt Ida Gold Project
EVOL LNG has secured a long-term Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) supply agreement with Aurenne to supply approximately 10,000 tonnes of LNG per annum to their Mt Ida Gold Project.
Aurenne’s Mt Ida Gold Project is located 105 kilometres northeast of Menzies in Western Australia. Aurenne has constructed a new 1.2 Mtpa processing plant and a 12 MW gas-fired power station at the site.
EVOL LNG Manager Josh Phillips said the use of LNG as an alternative to diesel would help minimise the mine’s power station emissions.
“Aurenne will avoid over 8,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year by fuelling their power station with LNG instead of diesel,” Josh said.
“It was also important for the project to have a highly reliable fuel supply, which EVOL’s established production facility, and custom-designed distribution fleet is able to provide.”
The EVOL-supplied LNG will be produced at Kleenheat’s 250-tonne per day Kwinana LNG Plant, and transported to Mt Ida using intermodal ISO tank containers which are railed between Kwinana and Kalgoorlie, and then hauled by triple road trains on the last leg of the journey to Mt Ida’s power station.
EVOL LNG has commissioned the on-site LNG storage and vaporisation facility at the mine, which it will own, operate and maintain. The facility uses EVOL LNG’s modular design which allows for fast installation and scalability if the mine’s energy requirements change in the future.
